Harbor Breeze Cruises has been providing public Whale Watching, World port, and charter cruises for over 20 years in the Los Angeles and Orange County areas. Our experienced Captains provide a comprehensive narration about the characteristics of each cruise.

Harbor Breeze Cruises was founded by Dan Salas in 1990. Danny’s love of the ocean began at a young age. He began working at the San Pedro docks at the early age of 12. His fondness of the sea grew stronger as he grew older and he pursued a career as a tug boat captain.

After 10 years of working as a tug boat captain Danny was ready to set out on his own. He bought his first boat in 1994 and shortly thereafter gave his first tour. Danny has spent the past 20 years perfecting his harbor cruise business. He’s hired experienced captains and staff to help his business excel.

Today Harbor Breeze Cruises offers more whale watching tours than any other company in the area.

The Southern California Coastline has more than just the Pacific Gray Whales and Blue Whales. Frequently on our tours we spot Common and Bottlenose Dolphins, Porpoises, Sea Lions, Harbor Seals, Marine Birds, and other Whales.

2015 was a spectacular year for sighting Blue Whales. We spotted 932 Blue Whales! We expect the upcoming Gray Whale Watch season to be our best yet and invite you, your friends, and family to join us!

Our newest ship, the Christopher, was designed specifically for whale watching. Passengers enjoy maximum viewing pleasure and comfort. There is no vessel similar to him in California. He is an extremely fast and exceptionally stable cat-hull vessel that can cruise to sightseeing locations smoothly and safely. The stadium seating on its bow provides an amazing view. Family and friends will have the greatest experience sightseeing on the Triumpant and the Christopher.

Whale Watching Trips

Fully narrated by an experienced Captain or Aquarium Naturalist,  whale watching is an exciting voyage off the Pacific Coast where you can see whales, dolphins, seals, and birds make incredible journeys along our coast, ranging from a few hundred miles to many thousands. Our ocean adventure will typically include an educational presentation by an Aquarium marine naturalist and various hands-on learning activities for children of all ages. On board the Harbor Breeze boat, guests will have the opportunity to learn more about whales as they explore the Aquarium’s whale artifacts, such as different types of whale bones and baleen.

All whale watching cruises include informative commentary, provided by experienced staff. Comfortable accommodations aboard ship include lounge areas, galley service, lavatories and expansive deck areas for viewing and photographing.

Come join in the fun and excitement seeing one of nature's most wondrous mammals, the California Gray Whale during the winter season and the Blue Whale during the summer months.

A whale watching trip is truly a memorable experience for all ages!

Gray Whale watching cruises are available during the migration season -typically from November to April. The gentle giants make their annual migration from the Bering Sea to the warm waters of Baja California to breed and have their young.

Blue Whale watching cruises are available during the summer months -beginning May to October typically. Blue Whales are the largest animal to live on earth and they can be seen along the Southern California Pacific Coast. The Long Beach area hosts hundreds of blue whales annually who come to the region to feed on krill. These animals are highly mobile and they move regularly through the coast visiting the Los Angeles and Orange County regions and other feeding grounds near Newport Beach and the Channel Islands.

Many Students' across Southern California have never seen the ocean. Our School Field Trips help enhance your students' educational need and are supported by the Long Beach Aquarium. All of Harbor Breeze Cruises' vessels are fully insured, coast guard certified, and LAUSD vendor approved. So join us on a safe and fun adventure as the Blue and Gray Whales migrate along our coast.
